Addiction Solitaire FAQ
Start with how to play Addiction Solitaire, then use the strategy guide to avoid dead gaps and make better use of each reshuffle.
What is Addiction Solitaire?
Addiction Solitaire is a one-deck patience game in the Gaps or Montana family. You move cards through four empty spaces to build four same-suit rows from 2 through King.
Are Addiction, Gaps, and Montana the same game?
The names are often used for closely related games with the same central movement rule. Redeal details vary. Click the Grid uses the common Addiction rule of three reshuffles; traditional Montana commonly allows two.
Why are the Aces removed?
Removing the four Aces creates the four gaps used to move cards. The Aces do not return as playable cards.
Which card can move into a gap?
It must be the same suit and one rank higher than the card immediately to the gap’s left. A first-column gap accepts any 2.
Why is a gap marked as blocked?
Nothing can enter a gap after a King because no card ranks higher. A gap after another gap has no left-hand card to build from.
What happens during a reshuffle?
Cards already in correct same-suit runs from the left edge stay locked. All other cards and the four gaps are deterministically mixed and redealt into the remaining spaces.
How many reshuffles are allowed?
Three. The reshuffle control becomes available when no legal moves remain.
Are the campaign deals winnable?
Yes. Every campaign and daily deal is generated backward from a completed layout and validated by replaying a legal route to victory.
Is Daily Addiction the same for everyone?
Yes. Everyone receives the deal selected for the same UTC date, with longer verified routes later in the week.
