What is Akari?

Akari, also called Light Up, is a logic puzzle in which bulbs are placed in open grid cells. Every open cell must be illuminated, numbered walls must have the stated number of adjacent bulbs, and no two bulbs may see one another.

How far does a bulb shine?

A bulb shines across every open cell in its row and column until a wall blocks the light. It does not shine diagonally or through a wall.

Can two bulbs light the same square?

Yes. Light beams may overlap. The restriction is that two bulbs cannot see each other along an unobstructed row or column.

What does a numbered wall mean?

Its number is the exact count of bulbs in the cells directly above, below, left, and right of it. Diagonal cells do not count.

Does an unnumbered wall need a bulb next to it?

No. An unnumbered wall only blocks light and sightlines; it places no limit on adjacent bulbs.

What does the × mark mean?

It is a solving note showing that a cell cannot contain a bulb. The cell still needs to be illuminated, and light can pass through it.

Is guessing required?

No. The Akari puzzles on Click the Grid are generated and checked for a unique solution, so deductions are enough.

Is Daily Akari the same for everyone?

Yes. Players receive the same puzzle for the same UTC date.

Where is my Akari progress saved?

Campaign progress, unfinished boards, and daily results are stored in this browser. They do not automatically sync to another browser or device.
