What is Shikaku?

Shikaku is a logic puzzle in which the grid is divided into rectangles. Each rectangle contains exactly one number, and that number equals the rectangle’s area in cells.

Can a Shikaku region be a square?

Yes. A square is a rectangle, so shapes such as 2×2 or 3×3 are valid when their area matches the clue.

Can rectangles overlap or leave gaps?

No. Every grid cell belongs to exactly one rectangle in the completed puzzle.

Can a rectangle contain two numbers?

No. Even when its area matches one number, a rectangle is invalid if it contains another clue.

Can a rectangle be one cell wide?

Yes. A 1×n or n×1 rectangle is valid. A clue of 1 forms a 1×1 rectangle.

How do I draw a rectangle on Click the Grid?

Drag from one corner to the opposite corner. You can drag in any direction and across the full intended width and height. Tap an existing rectangle to remove it.

Is guessing required?

No. Each Shikaku puzzle on Click the Grid is checked to have one solution and can be solved by eliminating impossible rectangles.

Is Daily Shikaku the same for everyone?

Yes. The puzzle is selected by UTC date, so everyone receives the same daily grid.

Where is my progress saved?

Campaign progress, unfinished rectangles, and daily results are stored in this browser and do not automatically sync between devices.
